Case studies

How we work, told through our projects

Not just promises: real projects. Each case study highlights a specific technical challenge, how we solved it, and the final outcome, from circuit diagrams to mass production.

A smart wall-mounted thermostat that communicates wirelessly using only the two wires of the OpenTherm bus. Fully developed in-house: electronics, firmware, app, industrialisation, and mass production.

✓ Reached mass production, multi-configuration

An electronic system that sanitises air and water using UVC lamps, featuring a remote dashboard and predictive maintenance. Developed from the initial idea through to mass production.

✓ Connected device in mass production

A controller that coordinates multiple energy sources—heat pumps, boilers, solar, and electric—and manages high-power cascade systems.

✓ Programmable controller in mass production

A gateway that collects a building’s thermal consumption data, uploads it to the cloud, and enables cost allocation, with connectivity adaptable to any system.

✓ Programmable gateway in mass production

A LED lamp that joins a mesh network with others, adapts light to the circadian cycle, and integrates on-board environmental sensors.

✓ Lighting system in mass production

A simple but critical PCB with unsustainable defect rates from a supplier in the Far East. AET80 re-industrialised the product and resourced production to Europe.

✓ Rejects eliminated from the line and production returned to Europe with no additional cost to the unit price

The co-design of a wireless system to measure and allocate heat in entire buildings: designed in-house and produced in over 1.7 million units.

✓ Over 1.7 million units produced in ~4 years; battery life over 10 years

The co-design of a system of valves, sensors, and gateways that communicate wirelessly to manage home comfort via an app, delivering heat only when needed.

✓ System designed in-house, in mass production since late 2020; 64 zones / 8 time slots
